Travel agent
A business separate from the tour operator that contractually agrees to provide or offers package travel arranged by the tour operator.
Under section 2(8) of the Austrian Package Travel Act, a travel agent is a business separate from the tour operator that contractually agrees to provide or offers package travel arranged by a tour operator. The travel agent and the tour operator are therefore different roles.
The distinction depends on who puts the package travel together and who contractually agrees to provide or offers it to the traveller. The package travel and tour operator topic sets out this distinction.
The business label alone does not determine the legal classification. The specific offer, contract and booking process matter. The matching tour operator glossary entry provides the comparison.
